Stacy Leyk, M.A., CCC-SLP
Stacy earned a Master of Arts Degree in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Colorado-Boulder and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. She is licensed through the State of Texas and is certified by the American-Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Stacy has experience in private practice, medical, and school settings. She has enjoyed private practice the most because it allows the most flexibility in adapting the patient’s goals and allows one on one interaction with the parents/caregivers. Stacy feels it is important to design individual goals for patients that will be the most functional for the patient and his/her family. Stacy enjoys working with children and adults. Her special areas of interest include treatment of apraxia of speech, auditory processing, language delay, and voice disorders.
Stacy is married and has two school-aged children.
She enjoys the beach, swimming with her kids, exercising, and volunteering at her children’s’ school
Jodie Chan, M.A., CCC-SLP
Jodie received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Texas at Austin. She earned her Master of Arts in Communication Disorders from the University of Houston. She is licensed by the State of Texas and certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Since graduating, she has been employed as a Speech-Language Pathologist in private practices and the school setting. She has been employed at The Speech and Learning Center since August 2009.She enjoys working with children and has a special interest in children with autism.
Jodie enjoys spending time with family, juicing, practicing yoga and ballet, and getting massages.
Valintean Pennick, M.S., CCC-SLP
Valintean received her Master of Science and Bachelor of Science Degrees in Speech Language Pathology from the State University of New York College at Buffalo. She is licensed through the State of Texas and certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Valintean has had experience working as a Speech Language Pathologist in private practice home health care and in school settings. She has been employed at The Speech and Learning Center since November 2010. Valintean enjoys working with both children and adults. Valintean's special areas of interest include tongue thrust, articulation, and language delay.
Valintean is married and has two handsome boys. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, dancing, traveling, and chocolate.
Erika Oliva, B.S., Speech Language Pathologist Assistant
Erika received her Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders at Stephen F. Austin State University. She is licensed by the state of Texas and is a member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. Erika has over 7 years of pediatric experience in home health and clinical outpatient settings using play-based and evidence-based approaches. She has been employed at the Speech and Learning Center since September 2014. As a Spanish-speaking therapist, she is excited to extend services to bilingual families at The Speech and Learning Center. She has a special interest in children with Down syndrome and children with Autism.
Erika spends her free time enjoying moments with her family, friends, and the outdoors. She enjoys baseball, attending concerts, watching sports, traveling, shopping, and too much reality television.
Mia Breaux, M.S., CCC-SLP
Mia received her Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at Xavier University of Louisiana. She received her Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Southern University of Baton Rouge in 2013. Mia is licensed in the state of Texas and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence. She has been employed at The Speech and Learning Center since August 2016Mia enjoys working with the pediatric population as well as adults. Mia is very passionate about her role as a Speech-Language Pathologist and is always ready to serve those in need.
Mia loves spending her free time with her family and friends. Mia also enjoys shopping, traveling, football (Go Saints), and watching movies.
Jillian Jones, M.S., CCC-SLP
Jillian received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and her Master’s Degree from Jackson State University, both located in Mississippi. She is licensed through the State of Texas and certified through the American Speech Language Hearing Association. Jillian has over 10 years of experience in different settings including schools, home health, private clinics and nursing homes.
She enjoys meeting new people and traveling.
Dana Thompson, B.A., Speech Language Pathologist Assistant
Dana received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Communication Disorders from Texas Southern University. She is licensed by the state of Texas and is a member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. Dana is supervised by a licensed speech language pathologist. Dana has 20 years of experience working in the public school and private settings. She has been employed at The Speech and Learning Center since April 2011. Her special interests include fluency, oral motor skills, and language delays
Leslie K. Loe, OT/L, MSOT
Leslie joined the team at the Speech and Learning Center in 2015. Leslie received her Master of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of North Carolina. She is licensed by She has 15 years of pediatric experience with most of those years spent working in the North Carolina school system. She is a returning Houstonian and looks forward to working with you and your children.
Leslie has a wonderful and fun 4-year-old daughter, a dog and two cats. She enjoys watching movies, quilting, and cooking.
Marie Guzman, Office Manager
Marie has been employed with The Speech and Learning Center as the Office Manager since June 2008. She has worked in the medical field for both private and public companies in administration and management for over 20 years. She feels that children are her passion and enjoys all the clients and families that come to The Speech and Learning Center. Marie feels very blessed to have the opportunity to work with the wonderful staff and clients.
Marie is a native Houstonian. She enjoys spending time with her family, eating seafood, shopping, anything beauty, and jewelry.
Olivia Rodriguez, Office Assistant
Olivia has been employed with The Speech and Learning Center since July 2016 as an office assistant. She was fortunate to be able to take time off from work to be able to raise her daughter. She is glad to be able to return to work at The Speech and Learning Center because she feels she is making a difference in the lives of patients and their families. She aims to help patients in any way possible to provide the highest quality of care.
Olivia enjoys spending time with her daughter, being outdoors, and shopping.
